The Crimson Claw

Welcome to the World of Elvyra

Thousands of years ago, a meteor hit a magical fictitious world, causing havoc amongst early civilization. This crash caused the world's crust to crack and separate, causing the land masses we now see. The material composition of some of these new masses caused them to float and leave massive craters in their wake. Ultimately, three divisions emerged: the skies, the surface, and the underground.

In this new world, species have evolved to fit the new environment. People from the sky continents evolved to grow wings, develop flying magic, or befriend animals to navigate between floating islands. Those born underground evolved to grow claws and develop night vision to help navigate the dark, rocky environment.

Travel to the sky islands requires magic, wealth, or contacts, as electricity and industrial machinery have yet to be discovered. Travel to the underground proves difficult for surface and sky peoples, as the underground consists of series of tunnels that connect to caves with buildings built into all surfaces. Each division is often at a disadvantage in places outside of their home, and it may take long for them to adapt outside of their environment.

Where Our Story Begins

Our story begins in a bar on the surface, far from any coastline. A woman walks in, her polished and refined look contrasting with the rundown building and haggard customers. She spots the person she had been searching for: A crusty mercenary passed out at a table after drinking herself unconscious. This was the infamous ex-pirate? The woman sighs and moves to care for the mercenary.

In time, the woman convinces the now-conscious mercenary to help her on her quest to find a magical item hidden somewhere in the vast open sea. In return, the mercenary would get her own ship, a crew, and a tremendous amount of money. Extremely broke and a bit sentimental about the life she once had, the mercenary takes the deal, and the Crimson Claw gains a captain and first mate.

Meet the Siren's Gem

Tora

As an orphan raised by pirates, the ocean is the only thing Tora knew for most of her life. That is, until a terrible storm sunk her boat and she lost the only family she ever knew. She became a wandering mercenary, taking anything that would pay for a room and alcohol. But years of despair couldn't keep this girl away from the ocean, as a job leads Tora back in the world of pirates, but now as a captain of her own crew.

Dahlia Montare

Dahlia Montare is a long standing high society woman....well, at least that's who people think she is. In reality, she is a con artist who lied her way into rubbing elbows with the wealthiest of the wealthy. Trouble is brewing in the sky islands, and Dahlia needs to make sure no one figures out her past. Luckily, there is a magic item on the surface that could her secure her status. All she needs is some help crossing the sea.

Darius Shev

Darius Shev, known as Shev, was the third character to join the Crimson Claw. He is very kind and always seen as a ray of sunshine. He loves to cook, grow his own foods and herbs, is always happy to help those in need. Shev was recommended to the group through local guilds, regarded as a good healer. They were able to track him down working at a tavern as a server. Shev jumped on the opportunity immediately, seeing the job as a way to finally be able to use his cooking skills and to (hopefully) get enough money to finally give his long-term girlfriend a stable life.

Quinn Bersk

Quinn was the final member to join the Crimson Claw. Quinn is a bit shy and unsure of themselves, trying to navigate their world after the passing of their last family member. While stopping in a city to restock, Quinn saves Tora and Dahlia from danger. They reveal that they have the ability to see glimpses of the future, though their magic as a whole is very unstable. Tora sees the opportunity in this, and offers Quinn a job on her ship, as the ship's navigator and disaster prevention person.
